The history of Galata Bridge, which is located at the access to Golden Horn and which connects Galata and Eminönü, dates back to old times. There were works to build a bridge on Golden Horn during the time of Byzantine Emperor Justinian. The first bridges on Golden Horn were built at Ayvansaray and Kağıthane but were destroyed during the crusades in 1204. Later during the reign of Sultan Bayezıt the 2nd, Leonardo da Vinci offered a bridge design on Golden Horn yet this offer was not evaluated. And in 1836, a bridge was built between Unkapanı and Azapkapı. Many other Galata Bridges were built in later years. The Historical Galata Bridge, on the other hand, was carried to the south of Rahmi Koç Museum. The new Galata Bridge, which is still active, is a must-stop destination for those who love fishing and eating fish, as there are many fish restaurants under the bridge. Walking over Galata Bridge is one of the best activities you can do in this area.
